Since Adyashanti first started teaching in 1996 at the request of his Zen teacher, whom he had been studying with for 14 years, he has published a steady stream of material clarifying the experience of enlightenment. The End of Your World continues the theme he carried through his earlier publications, that the enlightenment experience is already present, right here, right now and it continues to evolve. This particular work is geared towards individuals who are having glimpses of genuine awakening, only to have those glimpses slip away. Adyashanti refers to this is as the “I got it / I lost it” phenomenon. With extraordinary clarity and insight, he differentiates “non-abiding” awakening to the ultimate state of “abiding” enlightenment. The idea that enlightenment can mean “The end of your world” might be a cause for alarm. But as Adyashanti explains, “True awakening will not fit into the world as you imagine it of the self you imagined yourself to be.”

One of the highlights of this work is the interview between Adyashanti and Tami Simon, the owner of Sounds True. Simon, a gifted interviewer, helps bring more clarity to the material and has a wonderful knack of asking questions that come to the listener as the CDs play, especially around Adyashanti’s own personal experiences. – David A. Based on the assertion that consciousness has the ability to transcend time and space, she leads you to identify elements of your past, present, and future selves that can give you new insights to help solve your current problems. This is a good one to recommend for fans of Dale and those familiar with shamanic journeys.
